Boise Woman Indicted on Federal Arson Charges in Alleged Attempt to Burn DHS-Leased Building in Meridian

BOISE, ID — A Boise woman has been federally indicted after authorities allege she attempted to set fire to a Meridian building partially leased by the Department of Homeland Security.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho, Sarah Elizabeth George, 43, allegedly stole an ambulance on Feb. 18, 2026, drove it into the Portico building in Meridian, then dumped gasoline inside the vehicle and building with the intent to ignite it.

A federal grand jury returned a two-count indictment charging George with attempted malicious damage by fire.

One count alleges she attempted to damage federal property by fire, creating a substantial risk of injury. If convicted, she faces a mandatory minimum of seven years and up to 40 years in prison. The second count alleges attempted damage to property used in interstate commerce by fire, carrying a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years. Both counts carry potential fines of up to $250,000.

An indictment is an allegation of criminal conduct. George is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
