SPOKANE VALLEY, WA — A 46-year-old man was arrested Friday afternoon in Spokane Valley on multiple warrants related to sex offense convictions and alleged registration violations, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

The United States Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, with assistance from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Real Time Crime Center, located and arrested Juan Ketchum around 4 p.m. Feb. 27 near the 15000 block of East 24th Avenue.

Authorities said Ketchum was wanted on a Washington State Department of Corrections warrant for reportedly failing to comply with the terms of his probation following prior convictions for third-degree rape involving a 15-year-old and communication with a minor for immoral purposes. He was also taken into custody on a Spokane County Superior Court warrant alleging failure to register as a sex offender.

The U.S. Marshals Service stated that it works with federal, state, local and tribal agencies to investigate and apprehend non-compliant sex offenders, prioritizing cases involving violent offenses and crimes against children.

The arrest involved members of the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Real Time Crime Center, and the Washington State Department of Corrections Community Response Unit.

The Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force is a U.S. Marshals-led partnership that includes law enforcement agencies in Washington, Oregon and Alaska and focuses on locating and arresting violent federal and state fugitives.
