CLARKSTON, WA – A 62-year-old man is facing two counts of first-degree child molestation following an investigation by the Clarkston Police Department.
Police arrested Scott L. Snodderly in the 1300 block of 16th Avenue on Tuesday morning. According to probable cause documents filed by Clarkston Police, the charges stem from incidents alleged to have occurred on or about February 14 and 15 involving a 4-year-old girl.
According to the police report, the child’s mother was serving a short jail sentence from February 13 to February 16. During this time, a babysitter cared for the child. Police state that Snodderly, identified as a friend of of the babysitter, was also staying at the residence.
The allegations reportedly occurred while teh babysitter left the home to work afternoon and evening shifts at a local business. During a forensic interview conducted at the Two Rivers United Child Advocacy Center, the 4-year-old reported that a man—whom she identified as Snodderly—allegedly removed his clothing, touched her genital area over her clothes, and instructed her to touch his bare genitals.
The child’s mother contacted the police on February 17 and heard the child disclose the events. Following the police report, the child was taken to Tri-State Hospital for a medical evaluation. The examining physician reported no physical signs of external trauma or injury.
Court documents indicate police attempted to interview Snodderly on February 23. Snodderly initially agreed to a voluntary interview at the Clarkston Police Department but later declined, stating he would not answer questions without his attorney present.
On March 3, county deputies located Snodderly and, at the request of Clarkston Police, placed him under arrest. Snodderly was booked into the Asotin County Jail on child molestation charges.
