Couple arrested in connection with drug-induced homicide in Hayden

KOOTENAI COUNTY, ID — A husband and wife have been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a Hayden man after investigators determined the victim died from a drug overdose linked to methamphetamine they allegedly sold, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the investigation began Dec. 20, 2025, when Northern Lakes Fire and deputies with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded to a medical emergency in the 12000 block of North Brighton Court in Hayden. Emergency responders located an unconscious man who was transported to Kootenai Health, where he later died.

The Kootenai County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a drug overdose and notified the sheriff’s office. Detectives with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Unit opened an investigation into the death.

During the investigation, detectives determined that Dustin House, 39, and Angel House, 30, allegedly sold methamphetamine to the man prior to his overdose, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators presented evidence to a grand jury, which found probable cause to charge both individuals with drug-induced homicide. Arrest warrants were issued with bonds set at $1 million each.

On March 5, 2026, deputies and detectives arrested Dustin House in Post Falls without incident. Angel House was already in custody at the Kootenai County Jail on an unrelated charge and was re-arrested on the homicide warrant.

Both suspects were booked into the Kootenai County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
