Motorcycle Pursuit Ends in Arrest Near Spangle

COLFAX, WA- Friday afternoon, deputies with the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Washington State Patrol in locating a motorcycle that fled from troopers near Colfax, during a traffic stop attempt.

Deputies spotted the motorcycle on State Route 195 near milepost 59 and tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the rider again refused to pull over, continuing northbound on SR 195. Deputies eventually lost sight of the motorcycle near Spangle. A short time later, Whitcom dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting that a citizen had seen the motorcyclist hide on a property just north of Spangle after fleeing from law enforcement. The citizen confronted the rider, who attempted to leave, but managed to detain him until deputies arrived.

Deputies took the rider identified as 19-year-old Logan McIntosh of Airway Heights into custody without incident. McIntosh is facing charges of Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle and Criminal Trespass. He also has an extensive driving history that includes reckless driving, speeding, failure to yield to emergency vehicles, driving without a valid license, and failure to obey traffic signals.

The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that while it does not encourage citizens to physically detain suspects, as it can be dangerous, it appreciates the assistance provided in this case, which helped deputies safely take the individual into custody.
