CLARKSTON, WA – All eight members of the Inland Empire AAU Karate Regional Team from the Lewis-Clark Valley competed Saturday, March 7 at the Inland Empire District Championships held at Lincoln Middle School in Clarkston.
The tournament was the team’s largest hosted event to date, drawing 125 competitors and more than 100 athletes from across the region.
All eight local athletes qualified for the AAU Karate National Championships in Florida this summer. The event also featured standout performances from several team members, including a Junior Advanced Grand Champion Kata title for Jayden Henderson and a quadruple crown performance (four gold medals) by Luke Heavrin.

Individual results:
• Makaela Everheart: 1st – 18-34 F Advanced Kobudo; 2nd – 18-34 F Advanced Kata; 3rd – 18-34 F Advanced Kumite; 2nd – WUKF 18+ F Advanced Ippon Kumite; 3rd in Adult Grand Champion Kata bid.
• Anton Arthur: 1st – 18+ M Advanced Kobudo; 3rd – 18-34 M Advanced Kata; 1st – 18-34 M Advanced Kumite; 1st – WUKF 16+ M Advanced Kata; 2nd – WUKF 18+ M Advanced Ippon Kumite.
• Jayden Henderson: 1st – 14-15 F Advanced Kobudo; 1st – 14-15 F Advanced Kata; 2nd – 14-15 F Advanced Kumite; 3rd – WUKF 16+ Kata; Junior Advanced Grand Champion Kata.
• CC Subis: 1st – 12-13 F Intermediate Kata; 3rd – 12-13 F Intermediate Kumite; 1st – Team Kata.
• Luke Heavrin: 1st – 14-15 M/F Intermediate Kobudo; 1st – 14-15 M/F Intermediate Kata; 1st – 14-16 M Intermediate Kumite; 1st – Team Kata.
• Maverick Campbell: 1st – 12-13 M Intermediate Kata; 2nd – 12-13 M Intermediate Kumite; 1st – Team Kata.
• Milo Jones: 1st – 14-15 M Novice Kata; 3rd – 14-16 M Novice Kumite.
• Zeus Fenwick: 1st – 12-13 M Novice Kobudo; 3rd – 12-13 M Novice Kata; 1st – 12-13 M Novice Kumite.
The team will next travel to Florida for the AAU Karate National Championships later this summer.
