MOSCOW, ID – A kitchen fire Monday evening caused minor damage to a residence in Moscow and left one person with minor burn injuries.
The Moscow Fire Department responded at approximately 5:56 p.m. March 9 to a reported structure fire at a home in the 200 block of West First Street in Moscow, Idaho. The first engine arrived on scene in under four minutes.
Initial reports indicated an oil fire on the kitchen stove that had been partially extinguished before firefighters arrived.
Crews entered the residence to assess the situation and found no additional active fire. Firefighters checked for possible fire extension in the kitchen area and ventilated the building to remove smoke.
The lone occupant of the home was transported to Gritman Medical Center with minor burn injuries. No injuries were reported among firefighters or other emergency responders.
Officials said the fire was accidental and originated from cooking oil on the stove. Damage to the kitchen area was described as minimal.
The Moscow Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Moscow Police Department and Whitcom 911.
