Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Southern Idaho Interstate

TWIN FALLS, ID – A pedestrian was killed late Monday night in a crash on Interstate 84 in southern Idaho, according to the Idaho State Police.

The crash occurred at about 10:29 p.m. March 9 near mile marker 207 on westbound Interstate 84 near Heyburn, Idaho.

Investigators said a white 2013 Ram 2500 driven by a 22-year-old woman from Jerome, Idaho, with a 21-year-old male passenger from Declo, Idaho, was traveling westbound when it struck a pedestrian.

According to state police, the 44-year-old man from Sebring, Florida was walking eastbound in the westbound lanes of the interstate when he walked into the lane and was hit by the pickup.

The pedestrian died at the scene. The driver and passenger of the pickup were not transported from the scene and were both wearing seatbelts.

The roadway was blocked for approximately two and a half hours while crews responded to the crash.

Assisting agencies included the Minidoka County Sheriff’s Office, Cassia County Sheriff’s Office, Heyburn Police Department, West End QRU, Emergency Run Ambulance and the Idaho Transportation Department.
