LCSC Women Hold Team and Individual Lead at The Warrior Spring Classic

CLARKSTON, WA – LC State Women’s Golf, ranked No. 22 in the Scoreboard rankings, holds a commanding 22-stroke after the first round of The Warrior Spring Classic at Red Wolf Golf Club. Sophomore Jane Barry lead a group of three Warriors at the top of the leaderboard with 18 holes to play.

“The women had some great success. Really cool to see the stretch of solid golf they have been playing,” coach Zach Anderson said. “It is proving they are one of the best teams in the nation. Going to be a fun day tomorrow.”

Barry shot a 2-over, 74, with three birdies in round one to claim the top spot after day one of competition. Senior Dallis Shockey carded 3-over, 75, to sit one stroke off the lead.

Sophomore Giulia Belfontali is tied for third place after a 5-over-par, 77, and holds a three-stroke lead over her teammate, Isabella Barquet. Barquet shot 80 through round one which has her in a tie for eighth.

Taylor Mire shot 10-over to finish the first day in 11th place. Mire sits just two strokes behind Barquet

The Warriors had three athletes compete as individuals: Natalia Gomez, Chase Caruso and Myah Parsons. Gomez leads the group after a solid 6-over, 78, in round one to sit in fifth place. Caruso is tied for 12th at 11-over-par, 83, and senior Myah Parsons had one of the best rounds of her career with an 85 to head into the final round tied for 14th.

The Warrior women and the rest of the field tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Red Wolf Golf Club to finish competition at the Warrior Spring Classic.
