Applications open for Idaho Fish and Game community grants

BOISE, ID — The Idaho Fish and Game Commission is accepting applications for its Community Challenge Grant program, which provides funding for projects that support fish, wildlife and outdoor recreation across the state.

According to the agency, applications will be accepted from March 23 through April 30, with awards expected to be announced during the July Fish and Game Commission meeting.

The program offers two types of funding opportunities. Regional grants provide up to $10,000 for projects benefiting a local area, while statewide grants offer up to $30,000 for projects with broader impact across multiple regions.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, businesses, corporations and recognized sporting groups such as conservation or hunting organizations. Private individuals are not eligible. Applicants are also required to provide matching funds or in-kind support as part of their proposal.

Projects must demonstrate benefits to fish and wildlife habitat, populations, or related recreational opportunities and show support from the local sporting community.

Applications must include details such as the project’s purpose, budget, timeline and expected outcomes. Proposals will be reviewed by a panel of Fish and Game Commission members and staff using established evaluation criteria.

Statewide grant applications must be submitted to the Idaho Fish and Game headquarters in Boise, while regional applications should be sent to the appropriate regional office.

More information about the program and application process is available through Idaho Fish and Game.
