Lewis-Clark Valley karate team competes at Pacific Northwest Memorial Cup

YAKIMA, WA — On Saturday, March 21, eight members of the Inland Empire AAU Karate Regional Team from the Lewis-Clark Valley, along with Sensei/Coach Jon Morrow, competed at the Pacific Northwest Memorial Cup in Yakima.

Maverick Campbell, Jayden Henderson, Jonathan Morrow and Anton Arthur each earned triple crown honors during the event. Additional Grand Champion titles were awarded to Jayden Henderson in Junior Advanced Kata and Jonathan Morrow in Senior Advanced Kata.

Individual results are as follows:

  • Makaela Everheart placed second in 18–34 years female advanced kobudo long weapons, first in 18–24 years female advanced kata, and third in 18–24 years female advanced kumite.
  • Anton Arthur took first place in 18–24 years male advanced kobudo long weapons, first in 18–24 years male advanced kata, and first in 18–24 years male advanced kumite. He also placed third in the Senior Kata Grand Champion division.
  • Jonathan Morrow earned first place in 18–34 years male advanced kobudo short weapons, first in 25–34 years male advanced kobudo long weapons, and first in 25–34 years male advanced kata. He was also named Senior Advanced Grand Champion in kata.
  • Jayden Henderson placed first in 15–17 years female advanced kobudo long weapons, first in 14–17 years female advanced kobudo short weapons, and first in 15–17 years female advanced kata. She was also named Grand Champion for Junior Advanced Kata.
  • CC Subis placed second in 13–14 years female intermediate kobudo, second in 13–14 years female intermediate kata, and first in 13–14 years female intermediate kumite.
  • Luke Heavrin placed second in 15–17 years male intermediate kobudo and third in 15–17 years male intermediate kata.
  • Maverick Campbell placed first in 11–12 years intermediate kobudo, first in 11–12 years intermediate kata, and first in 11–12 years intermediate kumite.
  • Milo Jones placed third in 13–14 years male novice kobudo, first in 13–14 years male novice kata, and third in 13–14 years beginner/novice kumite.
  • Zeus Fenwick placed first in 13–14 years male novice kobudo, second in 13–14 years male novice kata, and first in 13–14 years beginner/novice kumite.
