15-Year-Old Arrested After Leading Police on Chase in Southern Idaho

KUNA, ID – A 15-year-old boy was arrested early Saturday following a vehicle pursuit that began in Meridian and ended in Kuna, according to Kuna Police.

Officers were dispatched around 4:02 a.m. on March 28 to a report of a possible drunk driver traveling southbound on South Meridian Road near East Victory Road. Dispatchers said the vehicle was being driven erratically and could not maintain its lane.

A Kuna Police deputy located the vehicle near West Whitetail Court and North Deerhorn Avenue and attempted a traffic stop. The driver fled, leading deputies on a pursuit.

Police said the vehicle traveled west on East Deer Flat Road into the Crimson Point subdivision, where it struck an electrical box and a parked vehicle and nearly hit a home. The driver then exited the subdivision and continued through several roads, striking a curb and shrubs in front of another residence.

The pursuit ended near South Ten Mile Road and West Overland Road after deputies used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle. Authorities said the driver attempted to flee again but crashed into a tree before running from the scene. He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

The juvenile driver was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries and later booked into Ada County Juvenile Detention on charges of felony fleeing and eluding, and misdemeanor possession of stolen property and resisting and obstructing.

Three additional juveniles, ages 13 to 15, were in the vehicle and were released to their parents.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
