Thursday Night Fire Damages Lewiston Home; Cause Under Investigation

LEWISTON, ID – The Lewiston Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 2223 2nd Street on Thursday night, where crews arriving on scene observed flames coming from the attic of the residence.

After responding at about 10:20 p.m., firefighters entered the home and were able to quickly knock down the fire in the attic and on the exterior of the structure. A search of the residence confirmed that all occupants had safely exited the home prior to the department’s arrival.

Crews remained on scene for approximately two hours to ensure the fire was fully extinguished, check for any extension, and confirm the home was safe for the owner to re-enter.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage to the residence and its contents is estimated at approximately $150,000.

The Lewiston Fire Department responded with three fire engines, three ambulances, two chief officers, and two fire investigators. The Clarkston Fire Department also assisted under an automatic aid agreement.
