Latah County – On May 20, 2023 at 5:01 am, Deputies from the Latah County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Potlatch Fire Department responded to a structure fire on US 95, just north of Potlatch, Idaho. The first firefighting units arrived on scene at 5:19 am. After the fire was extinguished, it was determined that a deceased male was located inside the residence. Moscow Fire, Bennet Lumber and Palouse Fire also assisted in firefight activities.

Sheriff’s Office Detectives and a member of the Idaho State Fire Marshall’s office arrived on scene sometime later. At this point investigation into the death of the individual and the cause of the fire are still under investigation.
