Structure Fire at 3110 9th St. on Christmas Morning; No Injuries

At 10:15 am the department was dispatched to a structure fire at 3110 9th St. First arriving crews found heavy smoke coming from the front door and fire from a window at the rear of the building.
Crews made entry with a 1 3/4 preconnect and knocked down the fire in about 15 minutes. Crews remained onscene for 3 hours to finish overhaul by removing the metal roof and exposing burning material underneath.
The department responded with three structural engines, three ambulances, 2 chief officers and 1 fire inspector, totaling 18 personnel. Wheatland Fire Dept. also responded for mutual aid with 4 personnel.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The estimated damage to the structure and contents is 50,000.
There were no citizen or firefighter injuries.
