Beware of pickpockets!
Lewiston Police is currently investigating a series of pickpocket incidents in our area. We were made aware of a group of individuals are targeting shoppers at local businesses. There strategy is to take advantage of shoppers while they are distracted looking for items.
Please be constantly aware of your surroundings and those close to you. If you have a purse or handbag, please do not leave them unattended in shopping carts, etc.
These individuals are taking the wallets and removing a credit card or cards and then replacing the wallet. Many times the victim isn’t immediately aware the credit card is missing and until charges have been made on their credit cards.
