COLFAX – Fire crews from Whitman County are currently on the scene of a fire on SR 26 near Milepost 121 that was started by a single firework in a dry brush field.
Whitman County Sheriff’s Office posted to their Facebook feed that the fire spread began in a brush field, but spread to a nearby structure that ignited and became fully engulfed.
Fire crews currently have the fire under control but are still on scene mopping up the area.
The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office reminds the community to use extreme caution while partaking in 4th of July activities due to the hot dry weather conditions.
