Woman Dies After Suspected DUI Crash Into a Pond in North Idaho

SANDPOINT, ID – Idaho State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash that is believed to have occurred in north Idaho on the evening of March 9th or morning hours of March 10th.

According to police, a passenger car, driven by a 43-year-old female, was westbound on Colburn Culver Road, about 9 miles north of Sandpoint, and approaching the intersection with US95 at a high rate of speed. The vehicle crossed over US95, left the roadway, and ultimately came to a stop in a nearby pond.

The driver was wearing her seatbelt but succumbed to her injuries on scene. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

US95 was not blocked. Next of kin notifications are underway and being handled by the Bonner County Coroner’s Office.
