WASHINGTON, D.C. – China announced early Friday that Beijing has sharply increased tariffs on U.S. imports, imposing a 125% tariff in what is now its strongest response yet in the growing trade standoff with the United States.

The move comes after President Donald Trump’s administration raised its tariffs on Chinese products to a combined rate of 145%.
