PORTLAND, OR – Warrior Men’s Golf is just one stroke off the lead after the first round of the Cascade Conference Golf Championships. LC State has three players in the top 10 after 18 holes at Glendoveer Golf Club, led by Sondre Andresen in a tie for second.
“Steady round for the men,” coach Zach Anderson said. “This course will penalize you for being out of position so we struggled at times with that. Although we didn’t have our best today, we are staying patient and letting the tournament development. Two more big days ahead of us. Solid round from Sondre, very proud of him for the stretch of golf he is playing right now.”
The Warriors shot 3-over as a team behind a 2-over round by No. 9 British Columbia.
Andresen carded a 1-under, 72, to start his tournament and birdied six holes in his round. He is tied for second and just one stroke off the lead.
Senior Alex Navarro is one stroke back of Andresen after an even-par, 73. He carded three birdies in his round and is tied for fifth place. Freshman Lucas Ortega played a solid round with four birdies to sit in a tie for 10th at 1-over, 74.
Oscar Behle carded a 3-over, 76, to keep the scoring close. His three birdies in the round have him tied for 18th place in the field. Luke West rounded out the top five with an 8-over round and is tied for 33rd.
