LCSC Women in Third After First Round of CCC Championships

PORTLAND, OR – Lewis-Clark State Women’s Golf sits in third place after the first round of the Cascade Conference Championships on Monday. LC State shot 26-over as a team to start the tournament at Glendoveer Golf Club in Portland.

The Warriors are seven strokes back of No. 18 Oregon Tech and Isabella Barquet is in eighth to lead the team.

“A day of ups and downs,” coach Zach Anderson said. “The women have battled inconsistency all year but it was nice to see us steady the round after a rough start. This course is playing very different than we expected it to. We will adjust and get back at it tomorrow to see if we can close the gap heading into the final round.”

Barquet carded a 5-over, 78 in the first round to sit in a tie for eighth place. She is the lone Warrior in the top 10 with sophomores Chase Caruso and Natalia Gomez one stroke back in a tie for 11th.

Caruso and Gomez shot matching 6-over rounds of 79. Freshman Giulia Belfontali is tied for 15th at 9-over, and Dallis Shockey is tied for 15th at 10-over.

All five LC State players are in the top 20 of the 40-person field.
