Idaho State Police Trooper Injured in Pursuit-Related Crash in Idaho Falls

IDAHO FALLS, ID – On the evening of Friday, May 9, around 10:00 p.m., an Idaho State Police (ISP) trooper was involved in a vehicle pursuit that ended in a collision at the intersection of Yellowstone Highway and Pancheri Drive in Idaho Falls.

The incident began when the trooper identified a vehicle linked to a felony warrant. Upon attempting a traffic stop, the suspect fled at high speed. Multiple spike strip deployments were attempted but failed to stop the suspect.

During the pursuit, the ISP trooper collided with an uninvolved civilian vehicle. Both the trooper and the civilian driver sustained injuries believed to be minor. The trooper was treated and released at the scene, while the civilian was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The suspect remains at large, and the vehicle was not apprehended.

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the crash. Inquiries about the collision should be directed to their office.

ISP expressed gratitude that the injuries appear to be non-life-threatening and that no bystanders were injured. In accordance with agency protocols, a full internal review of the pursuit and crash will be conducted.

Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
