Spring Chinook Fishery on Snake River to Close May 16

SNAKE RIVER – The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced that all spring Chinook salmon fishing on the Snake River will close one hour after sunset on May 16, 2025.

According to WDFW, the closure affects the section of the river below Little Goose Dam, from the Texas Rapids boat launch upstream to the fishing restriction boundary below the dam. This includes both shores, the rock and concrete area between the juvenile bypass return pipe and Little Goose Dam, as well as the area known locally as “the Wall” in front of the juvenile collection facility.

WDFW officials stated the closure is necessary to ensure the fishery does not exceed harvest allocations. The agency will continue to monitor in-season harvest data and may announce additional opportunities if conditions allow.

Anglers are encouraged to sign up for fishing rule change notifications and to check for emergency regulations on the WDFW website before fishing. A valid Washington fishing license is required, and fishing rules can be found in the 2024-25 Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet.
