LEWISTON, ID – The Lewiston Independent School District No. 1 Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Angela Baldus as the district’s new Assistant Superintendent. Baldus will assume the position on July 1, 2025, for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Baldus, originally from Nezperce, Idaho, has extensive ties to the LC Valley and a background rooted in small-town community values. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Idaho in 2002 and a Master of Education from the University of Idaho Boise Center in 2005.
Her career began as a first-grade teacher at Meridian Elementary in 2002. She entered school administration in 2005 and has served as a building principal in several districts over the past 18 years. Her roles included Vice Principal at Orofino Elementary and Orofino Junior High from 2007 to 2008, Principal at Orofino Elementary from 2008 to 2012, Principal at Highland Elementary in Clarkston from 2012 to 2020, and Principal at Royal Intermediate School in Royal City, Washington, from 2020 to 2024.
Baldus has been recognized with the Gem Award from the Idaho Association of Elementary School Principals in 2008-2009 and was named the 2015 Washington State Regional Distinguished Principal.
Most recently, she returned to the classroom to teach Transitional Kindergarten at Orchards Elementary in Lewiston. This new district-wide program is designed to prepare incoming kindergarten students.
According to the district, Baldus will bring a focus on academic achievement and social-emotional learning, with an emphasis on community collaboration. The Board of Directors expressed confidence that her leadership will support the district’s mission to provide an engaging and equitable education in a safe environment.
