BOISE, ID — Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador is warning families about an international criminal network known as “764,” which is actively targeting children in Idaho and across the country through online platforms.
According to Labrador’s office, the group operates through gaming platforms and messaging apps, including Discord, Telegram, and Roblox. The perpetrators are accused of manipulating children—typically between the ages of 9 and 17—into sending explicit images or engaging in self-harming behavior. Those images and actions are then used as blackmail in an ongoing scheme of threats and extortion.
Officials say the group’s tactics are designed to isolate victims, using fear and shame to keep them from seeking help.
“The criminals behind this network are targeting children across the globe with calculated cruelty,” Labrador said. “My office will use every tool at our disposal to expose these predators and protect Idaho families. Parents need to know this threat is real, it’s growing, and it thrives on silence. Awareness is the first line of defense.”
The name “764” is linked to a Texas zip code where the earliest cases were identified in 2021. The FBI currently has over 250 open investigations connected to the group. In Idaho, the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received 15 reports in April from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding suspected sextortion activity.
Labrador and the Idaho ICAC Task Force encourage anyone who suspects online exploitation to contact local law enforcement, the ICAC Unit at 208-947-8700, or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678 or www.cybertipline.com.
