FREMONT COUNTY, ID – On May 1, 2025, along U.S. Highway 20 near Henry’s Lake, Idaho State Police department confirmed the loss of seven lives in a collision involving a tour van and a pickup truck.
According to the Idaho State Police, the crash happened when a Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling westbound crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound Mercedes van carrying multiple passengers. The cause of the pickup truck’s movement into the opposing lane remains under investigation, with crash reconstruction and forensic analysis still ongoing.
All seven individuals who lost their lives in the collision have now been identified following extensive coordination between the Fremont County Coroner’s Office, the Ada County Coroner’s Office, and Idaho State Police Forensic Services. The deceased include:

The crash scene presented a complex and emotionally difficult situation for first responders. Local deputies, volunteer firefighters, and EMTs were among the first on scene, working swiftly to triage and assist the wounded. Their rapid response was credited with saving lives.
Fremont County Coroner Brenda Dye acknowledged the exceptional interagency collaboration that helped identify the victims and notify their families. Captain Chris Weadick of Idaho State Police District 6 praised the professionalism and dedication of the officers and investigators who handled the case, noting the emotional weight carried by all involved.
The Idaho State Police emphasized that while the investigation is still technically open pending final test results, no further updates are anticipated. The collision marks one of the deadliest incidents in recent memory on Idaho roadways, drawing both local and international attention due to the victims’ diverse backgrounds.
