Flags to Be Lowered Statewide in Washington on Memorial Day

OLYMPIA, WA — Governor Bob Ferguson has ordered all Washington state and United States flags at state agency facilities to be flown at half-staff on Monday, May 26, 2025, in honor of Memorial Day.

The flag lowering pays tribute to military service members who lost their lives in the line of duty. While the official lowering occurs Monday, state agencies may begin displaying flags at half-staff after business hours on Friday, May 23. Flags should remain lowered until noon on Memorial Day or be returned to full staff on Tuesday morning, May 27.

Other government entities, individuals, and businesses are encouraged to participate in the observance.
