BOISE, ID – Firefighters with the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) have been deployed to Canada to support wildfire response efforts through a regional partnership known as the Northwest Wildland Firefighting Compact.
The compact allows states and provinces to share personnel and resources across borders during major fire events. IDL officials say the deployment reflects the strength of mutual aid agreements and the importance of interagency cooperation during wildfire season.
“We’re proud of our crews’ willingness to step up and assist,” officials stated, noting the importance of regional partnerships in protecting communities and natural resources.
