PULLMAN, WA – The City of Pullman is set to receive over 100,000 dollars from Chevron for having to cleanup contaminated soil during the downtown reconstruction project.

Crews encountered more contaminated soil than there were expecting at the old Chevron gas station site. That location is now the Conoco branded station at Main and Paradise Streets. The city spent an extra 113,000 dollars properly removing the contaminated soil. Crews had to dig up and haul over 526 tons of material.

The Chevron Environmental Management Company has agreed to pay the city 113,000 dollars to pay for the cleanup. Pullman City Councilmembers are set to accept the settlement during their meeting Tuesday night.
