Colfax Pool to Remain Closed for Summer 2025 Due to Construction Delays

COLFAX, WA — The City of Colfax has announced that its community pool will remain closed for the 2025 summer season due to delays in the concrete pouring schedule and the required curing period, according to a statement released by city officials.

Despite efforts by city staff and strong advocacy from Mayor Retzer, the earliest available date for pouring new concrete is July 21. The concrete must then cure for 28 days to ensure safety and long-term durability, pushing any potential pool use well beyond the practical timeframe for this summer.

City officials acknowledged the disappointment this may bring to families and children who rely on the pool as a key summer amenity, noting that every attempt was made to expedite the project. However, contractor schedules and the strict curing requirements ultimately made a summer reopening unfeasible.

“We know how much the pool means to families, children, and residents in our community during the summer months,” the statement reads. “Unfortunately, due to contractor schedules and required curing time, opening the pool this year is not feasible.”

The city expressed appreciation for the public’s patience and emphasized that the ongoing improvements will result in a safer and more modern facility for future use. Updates will continue to be shared as the project progresses.

Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact City Hall at 509-397-3861.
