CLARKSTON, WA –  A Clarkston man was arrested Monday evening after allegedly ramming a vehicle and threatening another individual during a confrontation over a boat that had been left with him for repairs.

According to the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old Dustin John Gordon was taken into custody and booked into the Asotin County Jail on two counts of second-degree assault following the incident in the 1400 block of Maple Street in Clarkston.

The situation began when a man attempted to retrieve his boat, which he had delivered to Gordon’s location in December for maintenance. The owner of the boat reported months of unsuccessful attempts to coordinate a time, but he arranged to pick up the boat on Tuesday. He arrived earlier in the day but found no one on site. Later, he was advised by Gordon to return around 5:45 p.m.

Deputies were dispatched to the address shortly before 5 p.m. after Gordon reported that the boat owner had pulled a gun on him. When law enforcement arrived, they found Gordon in the street, visibly agitated. He claimed he had been trying to prevent the man from leaving with the boat due to an unresolved payment issue, according to court documents. Gordon stated that a firearm was pointed at him during the encounter.

The other party told deputies that as he was backing up to retrieve the boat, Gordon aggressively drove toward him and struck his vehicle. The man said he displayed a firearm in response, believing Gordon was threatening his safety. A witness reported that Gordon arrived at a high rate of speed, collided with the man’s truck, and exited his vehicle yelling that he was going to harm him.

Deputies observed visible damage to both Gordon’s van and the other man’s pickup.

Court documents say Gordon first told police he bumped the boat owner’s truck to keep him from leaving, then later claimed he accidentally hit the truck during the interaction. He was arrested and transported to the Asotin County Jail.
