LEWISTON, ID – Drivers crossing the U.S. Highway 12 Clearwater Memorial Bridge should prepare for temporary lane reductions beginning Saturday, June 21, as final surface repairs begin on the newly reconstructed span.
According to the Idaho Transportation Department, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction while crews resurface the bridge deck to create a smoother driving experience. Work will begin on the northbound lanes before moving to the southbound side. Each side will be closed for several days during the process, though sidewalks will remain open.
Crews are scheduled to work from sunrise to sunset, with minimal traffic delays anticipated throughout the work zone. Weather permitting, the repairs are expected to be complete before the Fourth of July holiday.
These surface repairs mark the final phase of a multi-year renovation project on the Clearwater Memorial Bridge. The updated bridge now features expanded travel lanes, shoulders, sidewalks, and a new median. Improvements have also eliminated previous weight restrictions, allowing heavy vehicles to cross the span without limitation.
Travelers can monitor regional traffic impacts by visiting 511.idaho.gov, dialing 5-1-1, or using the Idaho 511 mobile app.
