AHSAHKA, ID – An 81-year-old Washington man was injured Wednesday in a boating accident on Dworshak Reservoir, according to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred shortly after noon near the Big Eddy recreation area. Deputies, Clearwater County Ambulance Service, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers rangers responded to the scene.

The man, identified as Baron Cheffer, was aboard a 2021 18-foot LOWE aluminum boat when he sustained a back injury. He was transported by ambulance to Clearwater Valley Hospital for further evaluation.

No further details about the cause of the injury or the condition of the boat were immediately available. The incident remains under review.
