GREER, ID – Fire crews are actively working to contain the Old Greer Fire, a six-acre wildfire burning north of Old Greer Grade Road, across the river from the town of Greer.
According to the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL), the blaze was first reported around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25. As of early Thursday afternoon, 25 personnel were on the scene, supported by three engines, a bulldozer, a helicopter, and an air attack unit. Additional resources have been ordered.
No evacuation orders are currently in place, but five structures in the vicinity are threatened. Firefighters from IDL are joined by the U.S. Forest Service, the Nez Perce Tribe, and the Clearwater Potlatch Timber Protection Association in constructing containment lines and protecting nearby properties.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. IDL officials note that all wildfires within its districts are thoroughly examined to determine origin.
