Idaho GOP: ‘We Will Not Be Silenced’ After Threats to Party Leaders

BOISE, ID – The Idaho Republican Party has reported receiving multiple threats directed at its leadership and members, prompting a public statement from Chairwoman Dorothy Moon and the involvement of law enforcement.

According to a press release, recent threats included a voice message left on Chairwoman Moon’s home phone and a social media post calling for the murder of Idaho Republicans. These threats come in the wake of the killing of a state senator and her family in Minnesota, an event Moon referenced as a stark reminder of the seriousness of political intimidation.

“In recent days, our party has been subjected to disturbing threats,” Moon said in the statement. “Let me be clear: we will not be bullied, and we will not be silenced.”

The party emphasized its continued commitment to its platform, which includes opposition to gender-related medical procedures for minors, restrictions on what it describes as “obscene public performances,” and advocacy for parental rights in guiding children’s development.

“These threats have been reported to law enforcement and are under investigation,” the statement said. “We are cooperating fully with authorities and taking appropriate measures to protect our staff, volunteers, and elected officials.”

The Idaho GOP also urged leaders of all political affiliations to condemn violent rhetoric.

“Violence has no place in our political discourse, and threats must never be tolerated as a form of activism,” Moon stated.
