Dog on Roadway Triggers Motorcycle Crash Near Weippe

WEIPPE, ID – A Washington man was injured Sunday evening in a motorcycle crash reportedly caused by a dog running into the roadway on Highway 11 near mile marker 20.

According to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 8:14 p.m. on June 29. The Clearwater County Ambulance and Weippe Ambulance also responded to the scene.

Colton West, 27, of Issaquah, Washington, was traveling northbound at approximately 50 miles per hour when a dog entered the road, causing him to lose control of his motorcycle. West was transported to Clearwater Valley Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The southbound lane of the highway was closed for roughly 45 minutes during emergency response and investigation.

The incident remains under investigation by the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office.
