Suspected Drowning Under Investigation on Boise River

BOISE, ID — Authorities are investigating a suspected drowning after a man died Monday evening while floating the Boise River near 9th Street.

Boise Police officers responded to multiple emergency calls around 5:36 p.m. on June 30 regarding a possible drowning. When officers arrived, bystanders were performing CPR on an adult male. Police took over resuscitation efforts until Boise Fire crews and Ada County Paramedics arrived. The man was transported to a local hospital but did not survive.

According to the initial investigation, the man was tubing with friends when his single inner tube became caught on a tree, causing him to go under the water.

Boise Police and the Ada County Coroner’s Office are conducting a joint investigation. The coroner will release the man’s identity after notifying next of kin.
