MOSCOW, ID – A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Dylan Mortensen, one of the surviving roommates in the 2022 University of Idaho murders. The fundraiser, titled “Support Dylan’s Healing Journey,” was co-organized by Kate Heath and Cindy Montoto on behalf of Mortensen.
According to the campaign page, Mortensen has spent the past two and a half years recovering from the traumatic events of the quadruple homicide that took the lives of her close friends. Organizers say she has been quietly cooperating with law enforcement and working through the emotional and psychological impact of the tragedy.
The fundraiser aims to provide financial assistance for Mortensen as she continues to rebuild her life. Funds will go toward relocation, long-term trauma therapy, and enhanced security and privacy measures.
“This is to support Dylan in building back her life and her future — a life that will require relocation, intensive long-term trauma therapy, and extra security and privacy measures,” the organizers wrote.
The campaign also addresses the negative attention Mortensen has received online, noting that while social media has been “unkind,” her family hopes it can also be a vehicle for support and compassion.
Donations can be made through GoFundMe. As of Tuesday morning, the fundraising effort has raised over $45,000.
