SPOKANE, WA — On July 30, 2025, the Spokane Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), in coordination with multiple federal and regional law enforcement partners, arrested 38-year-old Taurean D. Jones following an extensive investigation into serious criminal activity, including unlawful conduct involving minors.
The case began in January when SIU detectives received a report from the State of Idaho concerning allegations of inappropriate and criminal behavior. The report involved a vulnerable youth, and early findings suggested coordinated activity crossing state lines. As the investigation progressed, detectives gathered evidence indicating that illegal substances and threats were allegedly used to exploit the victim over a prolonged period. A second potential victim was identified as the inquiry widened.
Local and federal agencies, including the FBI, worked collaboratively to uncover the full scope of the situation. As part of the operation, search warrants were executed on a vehicle and a downtown Spokane business connected to Jones. Law enforcement officers recovered a loaded, stolen firearm and illegal narcotics from the vehicle.
Jones has been booked into the Spokane County Jail and is facing multiple felony charges, including but not limited to: involvement in unlawful exploitation, several degrees of assault-related offenses, illegal possession of a firearm, and distribution of controlled substances.
This case underscores the commitment of Spokane-area law enforcement to protecting the community—especially the most vulnerable. Support organizations, including trained counselors and advocacy groups, are now assisting those affected.
