Coeur d’Alene Man Sentenced to Prison for Sexual Abuse of Minor

COEUR D’ALENE, ID – An 18-year-old Coeur d’Alene man has been sentenced to prison for the sexual abuse of a child under the age of sixteen, following a conviction stemming from a 2024 incident.

Landyn Lee Molyneaux was convicted of felony Sexual Abuse of a Child Under the Age of Sixteen for sexually abusing a 10-year-old child in November 2024. According to the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the abuse involved multiple inappropriate physical acts. During the course of the investigation, Molyneaux also admitted to prior sexual contact with three other minor children between the ages of 7 and 10, which began when he was approximately 12 years old.

Molyneaux was sentenced on August 6, 2025, by District Judge Barry McHugh. He received a 20-year prison sentence with eligibility for parole after serving two years. A no-contact order was also issued, prohibiting Molyneaux from contacting the victim for the duration of the sentence.

Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Art Verharen had recommended parole eligibility after five years. The case was investigated by the Coeur d’Alene Police Department.

Prosecuting Attorney Stanley T. Mortensen expressed appreciation for Verharen’s efforts and reaffirmed the office’s commitment to supporting victims and holding offenders accountable.
