AIRWAY HEIGHTS, WA – A 68-year-old Cheney man died Thursday night after being struck by two vehicles while standing in the roadway on State Route 2, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The collision happened around 9:58 p.m. on eastbound SR 2 near Fairview Heights Road, about one mile west of Airway Heights. Troopers said the pedestrian, identified as Edward D. Goss, was standing in the right lane when an eastbound 2017 Ram 1500 pickup struck him. Goss came to rest in the right lane and was then struck by a second eastbound vehicle, a 2024 Ford F-150.
There were no other injuries reported. Goss was pronounced dead at the scene. The Washington State Patrol said drugs or alcohol were not involved.
