Pete Serrano Appointed Interim U.S. Attorney for Eastern Washington

SPOKANE, WA – Pete Serrano was sworn in Monday as the Interim United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, following his appointment by Attorney General Pam Bondi on August 6, 2025.

In his new role, Serrano will oversee the prosecution of all federal criminal cases and the handling of civil matters in which the United States has an interest across Eastern Washington. He will lead a staff of approximately 79 prosecutors, civil litigators, and support personnel.

Before his appointment, Serrano served as Mayor of Pasco, Washington. He also co-founded the Silent Majority Foundation in 2021, a nonprofit organization focused on civil liberties, where he served as Director and General Counsel.

Serrano’s legal career includes work with the U.S. Department of Energy from 2015 to 2018, concentrating on environmental law. From 2018 to 2021, he was with Energy Northwest, where his work included permitting small modular nuclear reactors.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington is based in Spokane and serves 20 counties in the region.
