LEWISTON, ID — The Lewiston Fire Department recognized the dedication and achievements of seven firefighters during a badge pinning ceremony held at the Lewiston City Council meeting on August 11.

The ceremony celebrated four new reserve firefighters — Nate Dalton, Travis Harris, Jesse Liesegang, and Zander London — as well as three full-time firefighters, Joe Andersen, Joe Evangelho, and Turner Webb, who completed the training and education necessary to earn their paramedic certification.

Lewiston Fire Chief Greg Rightmier emphasized the value of the Reserve Firefighter Program, noting that reserve members are an essential part of the department’s constant staffing model, saving the city over $2 million annually. Reserve firefighters often balance academic commitments, part-time work, and apprenticeship hours as they prepare for full-time careers in fire service.

“While the sacrifice and hard work of these members is notable, success in the fire service is a team event,” Chief Rightmier said. “We also recognize the families, instructors, mentors, and support staff who stand behind those who answer the call for help.”

The department expressed its gratitude to the community for continued support and encouraged residents to learn more about the Reserve Firefighter Program and other career opportunities within the department.
