Additional Units Arriving on 6,000 Acre Central Ferry Fire South of Dusty, Blaze 0% Contained

WHITMAN COUNTY, WA – Resources from around the State of Washington are arriving at the Central Ferry Fire South of Dusty in Whitman County today.

The blaze has burned about 6,000 acres. It was started with a motorhome fire on State Route 127 just North of Central Ferry on the Snake River late Wednesday morning. High winds quickly spread the flames into the Snake River Canyon and along the top of the breaks in ag fields.

Aircraft will be dropping water on the flames again today.
Ground firefighters will be joined by local farmers plowing around the flames. Crews will be working to dig a line around the fire today. The blaze is 0% contained. Drones are banned in the fire zone.

Nearby residents have been placed on evacuation notice. SR127 South of Dusty is back open. Volunteers from fire departments around Whitman County battled the blaze on Wednesday.
