Man who Eluded Police in Lewiston Nearly a Year ago Arrested in Asotin County

LEWISTON, ID – A man wanted on a warrant for felony eluding in Nez Perce County was apprehended in Asotin County on Friday, August 15.

According to court documents, on the night of August 29, 2024, 29‑year‑old Anthony Marsh allegedly sped through Lewiston neighborhoods at more than double the posted limits before crossing into Washington state, escaping capture.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Nez Perce County District Court, Marsh was identified as the driver of a red 1997 Dodge Dakota involved in the pursuit. Officers stated the vehicle also had a suspended registration for no insurance and was seen leaving the parking lot of a convenience store on Bryden Avenue.

When police attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle allegedly accelerated through residential areas, reaching 55–60 mph in a 25‑mph zone and about 45 mph in a 20‑mph school zone. Officers reported the driver failed to stop at multiple intersections, prompting police to discontinue direct pursuit due to public safety concerns.

Other responding officers later observed the Dodge traveling at an estimated 78 mph before it crossed into Washington. Investigators obtained surveillance footage from the convenience store that they say matched Marsh, who was known to law enforcement. Tattoos on his neck, right arm, and left hand were specifically noted as identifiers used to confirm his identity.

The registered owner also told police he had loaned the vehicle to Marsh.

A warrant for his arrest was issued in the eluding case on Sept. 11, 2024.  Marsh was also wanted on another warrant related to probation violations in a 2022 aggravated battery case.  In that case, Marsh was accused of stabbing another man multiple times during a dispute.

He was transferred from Asotin County custody to the Nez Perce County Jail on Monday afternoon.  Marsh is expected to appear in Nez Perce County Court on Tuesday afternoon.
