LEWISTON, ID — St. Joseph Regional Medical Center announced that CEO Ed Freysinger has been recognized on Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2025 list of Community Hospital Presidents and CEOs to Know. This marks the third time Freysinger has earned the national recognition.
Becker’s list honors 207 hospital leaders across the country for their vision, innovation, and dedication to improving healthcare within their communities. Freysinger’s selection highlights progress at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and its growing role in expanding healthcare access in the Lewis-Clark Valley.

Since joining St. Joe’s in 2021, Freysinger has prioritized improving patient experiences and outcomes. Over the past year, the hospital has recruited new physicians across several specialties, expanding access to care. The facility has also reported measurable improvements in care quality, patient outcomes, and overall reputation.
Becker’s noted that St. Joseph Regional Medical Center is the largest full-service hospital between Boise, Idaho, and Spokane, Washington. Under Freysinger’s leadership, the hospital earned dual Leapfrog “A” safety grades in 2024 and 2025 and was recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a Maternity Care Access Hospital, a designation given to hospitals that provide critical obstetric services in underserved regions.
St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, accredited by The Joint Commission, offers a wide range of services including emergency care, cancer treatment, surgery, primary care, imaging, and women’s health. The hospital is part of ScionHealth and employs more than 100 board-certified physicians and providers.
