University of Idaho Theatre Arts Department Unveils 2025-26 Season Lineup

MOSCOW, ID – The University of Idaho’s Department of Theatre Arts has announced its 2025-26 season, bringing a mix of musicals and classic plays to stages in Moscow. The lineup includes two musicals, two plays, and the annual First Bite New Play Series.

The season opens with Pippin, running Oct. 30 through Nov. 9 at the Hartung Theater. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger O. Hirson, the musical follows a young prince on his search for meaning and purpose.

In December, audiences can expect the existential drama No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre, adapted by Paul Bowles. The play will run Dec. 4-14 in the Pocket Playhouse at Shoup Hall.

The department’s First Bite New Play Series will return later in the season, with details to be announced.

Spring productions begin with the darkly comedic musical Ride the Cyclone, set for Feb. 27 through March 8 at the Forge Theater. The story follows six Canadian teens who meet a tragic fate on a roller coaster and are given one final chance to tell their stories in limbo.

Closing the season, Shakespeare’s A Comedy of Errors will take the Hartung Theater stage May 1-10. The play delivers a fast-paced tale of mistaken identity and double trouble as separated twins unknowingly cross paths.

Tickets range from $6 to $26 for the public, while admission remains free for U of I students. Tickets for Pippin are already available at uitickets.com.

Auditions for the productions will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hartung Theater, by appointment.
