YAKIMA, WA — A Wapato man has been convicted of second degree murder following a deadly DUI crash that claimed the life of another driver on the Yakama Nation Indian Reservation.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington, 36-year-old Jason Alexander Logie was found guilty by a jury on August 20, 2025, after a trial before Chief U.S. District Judge Stanley A. Bastian. The trial began August 18, and sentencing has been scheduled for November 18, 2025.
Court records show that on September 9, 2023, Logie was driving under the influence of alcohol when he crossed the center line on North Track Road. His vehicle struck another car head-on in its lane of travel, killing the driver.
U.S. Attorney S. Peter Serrano said holding repeat offenders accountable remains a top priority.
“Partnering with state, local, and Tribal law enforcement strengthens our prosecution of cases like this, where a repeat offender will be held accountable for his careless actions that cost an innocent victim their life,” Serrano stated in a release.
The case was investigated by the Yakama Nation Police Department with assistance from the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael D. Murphy and Courtney R. Pratten prosecuted the case.
