Southern Idaho Man Arrested on Child Exploitation Charges

TWIN FALLS, ID – The Twin Falls Police Department announced Tuesday that officers have arrested 26-year-old Elijah Hartney on charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child and Video Voyeurism following a months-long investigation.

The case began in May after a tip was received from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). Detectives with the department worked to gather and verify evidence over several months before making the arrest.

“This investigation required patience and persistence,” Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said. “We recognize the challenging and sensitive nature of these cases. It demands not only expertise but also resilience from our law enforcement personnel. We commend the hard work and unwavering commitment of our Detectives in seeing this case through.”

The department credited NCMEC for its role in alerting investigators and expressed appreciation to all law enforcement agencies involved in the case. Officials emphasized that Hartney is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Police said the arrest underscores the department’s ongoing efforts to protect the community’s most vulnerable members.
