Democrats Plan Labor Day Rally in Clarkston

CLARKSTON, WA – The Asotin County Democrats will host a Labor Day rally on Monday, September 1, at Vernon Park, located at the corner of 6th Street and Chestnut in Clarkston. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Carmela Conroy, the Democratic candidate for Washington’s 5th Congressional District, running against U.S. Rep. Michael Baumgartner, is scheduled to serve as the main speaker. Organizers encourage attendees to bring signs, chairs, and picnic items, as well as food donations for the Asotin County Food Bank.

Information posted on mobilize.us says the gathering is part of a nationwide effort advocating for workers’ rights, fully funded schools, healthcare and housing for all, and protections for vulnerable communities.

“Billionaires are converting the government into their private slush fund and just passed the largest wealth giveaway in the history of the US. The money they take from working families, they put in billionaires’ pockets and set aside to fund a private army of ICE agents,” says the website post.  “We are working people rising up to stop the billionaire takeover–not just through the ballot box or the courts, but through building a bigger and stronger movement. We are growing our movement and fighting for a country that is more fair, just, equitable, and free for all of us—and not just a chosen few.”
